At the end of each year, the Auditor General of Ontario issues follow-up reports of all Value for Money audits conducted two-years prior. The Auditor General of Ontario has released OMVIC’s Follow-Up Report on the 30 recommendations contained in the December 2021 Value for Money audit. This Follow-Up Report provides an assessment on the implementation status of these recommendations. In addition, a follow-up report on the 12 recommendations made by the Standing Committee on Public Accounts issued in February 2023 (SCOPA Report), has also been released.
As the regulator for motor vehicle sales in Ontario, we took the opportunities for improvement identified by the Auditor General seriously.
OMVIC appreciates the work of the Auditor General of Ontario and the acknowledgement of the progress we have made, along with the opportunities presented in this report for further improvement. OMVIC also acknowledges and appreciates the oversight of the Ministry of Public Business and Service Delivery and Procurement and commits to continue working collaboratively to implement the remaining recommendations.
You can find the reports here or on the Auditor General’s website. If you have any questions about the report or its findings, please contact [email protected] or call 1-800-943-6002 and select the media relations and communications option.
Part of our commitment to continuous improvement includes addressing the recommendations outlined in the 2021 value-for-money audit report completed by Ontario’s Auditor General. OMVIC publishes a public action plan that’s updated every quarter which provides an overview of the steps taken to address the Auditor General’s recommendations.
